Performance Improvements of Data-Link Layer Protocol in WATM

چکیده

In these days, mobile communicition service has characteristics of highspeed and multimedia Due to the high error rat io of wireless linkenvironments, a DLC protocol that is optimized for wire network could not be used in wireless link environments. Thus, DLC protocol that is suitable to mobile communication environments is required. To solve these problems, we propose ;n efficient WATM DLC layer protocol. The proposed DLC protocol could support various traffic attributes of high-speed multimedia services. That is, the proposed DLC layer protocol provides piggyback response, Multiple-Ack, and Multiple Retransmission mechanism based on SR-ARQ. Also, outband retransmission scheme using dynamic bandwidth is provided for delay sensitive service and multi-copy transmission is applied in a seriously faded radio environments such as handover. According to simulation results, suggested schemes show better performance than conventional SR-ARQ protocol in view of cell transmission delay and throughput.
